Please introduce yourself!
Hello! I’m Janice Mattheis, the founder and president of LIRA Learning. I’ve been a public school educator for over 15 years and a district administrator for the last eight. LIRA came about from my work overseeing the modernization of the school libraries in my last district. I love children’s literature and writing curriculum. I live in Lake Barrington, Illinois, northwest of Chicago. I have two grown children (one is a teacher), a cat, and a dog. Currently, I’m reading tons of children’s picture books. I just read I Am You: A Book about Ubuntu, by Refiloe Moahloli and I highly recommend this book for your library. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or comments. Hello! I’m Athena Lesiotis, I am in a 5th grade co-teaching classroom in D100. I am also Janice’s daughter. This is my second year teaching and I love it so far! I am excited to meet other teachers and grow my professional network.
